USA SIM card from the UAE: T-Mobile prepaid, roaming or an eSIM
An America SIM card from
T-Mobile cannot be bought in Dubai: the U.S. Pass eSIM costs US$25 for 7 days plus taxes and fees, and T-Mobile says “You must complete your purchase while in the United States” (16 Oct 2026). On your UAE line, du postpaid sells 10GB for 7 days at AED 100.00 (15 Oct 2026), and Virgin Mobile UAE’s One Country pass makes the USA free on 20GB+ plans. A USA eSIM starts at AED 12.99 for 1GB and 7 days.

Four ways to get data in the US from the UAE
Three of four routes to data in the US can be set up in Dubai: a roaming pack on your e&, du or Virgin Mobile UAE line, Virgin’s free One Country pass, and a USA eSIM. The fourth, a prepaid SIM USA plan from T-Mobile or AT&T, starts only after you land.
| Option | Price | What you need | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| e& (Etisalat), du or Virgin Mobile roaming pack | AED 35.00 to AED 1,200.00 a pack from about AED 15.00 per GB | Roaming switched on and a pack bought before you fly | Costs more per GB than the eSIM |
| Pocket Wi-Fi router | Not verified | Collect it, keep it charged and return it | One connection for the group, only while you stay together |
| Local SIM bought on arrival | Not verified | A free SIM slot and a shop after landing | On a one-slot phone it replaces your UAE SIM |
| Travel eSIM from this site | from AED 12.99 by card; from AED 4.10 per GB | An eSIM phone that is not locked to one operator | Most plans are data only; your UAE number is not on it |
Pack prices as listed by e&, du and Virgin Mobile on 15 Oct 2026; AED per GB is our derivation (price ÷ GB). eSIM prices are in AED at the day’s rate: your card is charged exactly that amount.
The USA is in the main roaming zone of all three UAE operators. Dubai International handled 3.3 million USA passengers in 2025 (Dubai Media Office), counting both directions and transit, not residents’ trips.
Your e&, du or Virgin line won’t use mobile data abroad unless you add a roaming pack (e& lets you unlock pay-as-you-go data for 24 hours by SMS).
eSIM for the United States: most chosen plans
Your card is charged exactly AED 12.99; the charge is in UAE dirhams. The seller is registered outside the UAE, so some banks may still add a foreign-merchant fee — how card payment works.
What it costs per day
Plan price in AED ÷ days, at the rate of 17 Oct. A longer plan usually costs less per day: pick by your trip length, not by the lowest daily price.
T-Mobile U.S. Pass and other US prepaid plans: bought after you land
The America SIM card for visitors, T-Mobile’s U.S. Pass eSIM, costs US$25 for 7 days, US$30 for 10 and US$35 for 14, each “Plus taxes & fees”, with unlimited US talk and text. It activates when you buy it, so T-Mobile says “only buy it when you land” (16 Oct 2026).
| U.S. Pass | Price (USD) | Hotspot | per day (our arithmetic, before taxes) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 days | US$25 | 14GB | US$3.57 |
| 10 days | US$30 | 20GB | US$3.00 |
| 14 days | US$35 | 28GB | US$2.50 |
Source: T-Mobile Prepaid, U.S. Pass (16 Oct 2026). Each pass lists “Unlimited 5G data with 50GB of premium 5G data in the U.S.” We do not convert dollars to AED or add tax ourselves.
The catch: you need airport Wi-Fi, an unlocked phone and an accepted card. The page says “We accept domestic and international credit and debit cards from select countries” and names none, so we cannot confirm that a UAE-issued card works; ask T-Mobile before you fly. It also says “no contracts or ID required”. One r/eSIMs poster (7 Jul 2026) asked: “Anybody bought an Esim before travelling to USA? If yes, which website did you use?” That is one person’s experience.
AT&T prepaid and T-Mobile’s monthly plans are not a tourist SIM. T-Mobile’s Starter Monthly is US$40 a month with autopay (15GB) and Unlimited Monthly US$45, plus taxes and fees. AT&T lists unlimited talk, text and data at US$25.00 a month, with 30GB at max 3Mbps, then max 1.5Mbps: “Online only. Req. new single line” (16 Oct 2026). We could not confirm what AT&T asks a visitor for, and we have no US rules on documents for SIM cards.

e&, du and Virgin Mobile in the US: a week and a month
Roaming from the UAE for a week in the US costs AED 100.00 on e& prepaid (4GB) or du postpaid (10GB), and a month costs AED 300.00 on Virgin (20GB) or nothing on One Country (15 Oct 2026, 15 Oct 2026, 15 Oct 2026).
| Pack | Line | Data · days | AED | about AED per day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| e& Weekly Data | prepaid only | 4GB (until 10 Jan 2027) · 7 days | 100 | 14.3 |
| du roaming data bundle | postpaid | 10GB · 7 days | 100 | 14.3 |
| du roaming data bundle | postpaid | unlimited · 7 days | 200 | 28.6 |
| Virgin roaming pack | Virgin plan | 20GB · 30 days | 300 | 10.0 |
| e& Roaming Monthly Economy | prepaid + postpaid | 6GB (until 10 Jan 2027) + 60 min · 30 days | 350 | 11.7 |
| Virgin One Country | plans of 20GB+ | your plan’s data · 1 month | 0 | 0 |

The USA is on Virgin’s One Country list (34 countries on the page, 15 Oct 2026). It does not renew: “Don’t forget to re-activate every month.” See Virgin Mobile roaming.
du also sells a travel eSIM for the USA, from US$4 (about AED 14.69) for 1GB and 7 days (du, 15 Oct 2026).
A week in the United States: roaming pack vs eSIM
2.5× cheaper than prepaid packs Free on Virgin Mobile 20 GB+ plans5.6 GB for 7 days (0.8 GB a day, social media and photos): the cheapest prepaid way to get it, and postpaid where it is lower.
On roaming your UAE number also takes calls and SMS; the eSIM is data only. Packs at the operator’s AED price, as listed on 15 Oct 2026; the eSIM at its AED price on 17 Oct, charged in AED by card. Work out your own trip.
Plans with minutes: when you need to call in the US
Our USA plan with minutes is 10GB, 100 SMS and 100 minutes for 30 days at AED 114.99; the range runs from 1GB and 10 minutes for 3 days to 50GB and 500 minutes for 30 days, on T-Mobile and
Verizon 5G.
Incoming calls use the same minutes, and outgoing international calls are not allowed, so they do not replace calls home. We have no data on a US phone number with the plan. Our USA plans without minutes are data only: keep your UAE SIM in the phone (keep your UAE number).
For a week of calls inside the US, T-Mobile’s unlimited talk and text beats a 100-minute cap. On your UAE number, receiving a call in the US costs AED 4.25 a minute on e& and AED 1.25 on du postpaid (du prepaid figures conflict); Virgin lists no US rate we read. Calling the UAE costs AED 9.50 on e& and AED 9.00 on du (15 Oct 2026).
Keep your UAE SIM switched on for SMS; e& and Virgin don’t charge for SMS you receive abroad; calls you receive are charged per minute. du doesn’t publish a price for SMS you receive abroad, so check with du.
Unlimited in the US: 5GB a day at full speed
Our 7-day USA unlimited plan costs AED 92.99 (about AED 13.28 a day) and runs at full speed up to 5GB a day, then 1 Mbps, on T-Mobile and
Verizon 5G. Over 7 days that is up to 35GB at full speed (our arithmetic).
| Our USA eSIM | Data · days | AED |
|---|---|---|
| Data | 1GB · 7 days | AED 12.99 |
| Data | 20GB · 30 days | AED 81.99 |
| With minutes | 10GB · 30 days · 100 min · 100 SMS | AED 114.99 |
| Unlimited, 1 Mbps after 5GB a day | 7 days | AED 92.99 |
As an eSIM alternative to an America SIM card, unlimited also comes in 3, 5, 10, 15 and 30 days: see the USA eSIM plans and unlimited eSIMs. T-Mobile’s “50GB of premium 5G data” and our 5GB a day use different yardsticks, so compare final totals. On a US and Canada trip, the U.S. Pass adds “5GB of high-speed data while in Mexico and Canada (activation required)”; our plans are sold per country.
Charged in AED by JET SHARING (USA). Your bank may add a foreign-transaction fee; see how to pay.
Our eSIMs are for use outside the UAE; they do not provide service in the UAE. Install before you fly; it connects when you land in the US, and the days count from that first connection. On Android set the APN by hand (APN settings); iPhone does it automatically. If the eSIM has not connected to any network, you can get a refund within 30 days of purchase.
Check before you fly
What if the eSIM doesn’t work when you land in the United States?
Check four settings, in this order, before you write to us.
The first is the line for mobile data. On iPhone it is Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data; on Android, the SIM manager. Pick the travel line there; your UAE line stays on for calls and SMS, with its mobile data off.
The second is data roaming, for the eSIM line only. The eSIM is a foreign profile, so the phone treats the United States as roaming for it.
The third is the APN. The plan does not set it by itself here: add wbdata on Android under the eSIM line’s mobile network settings.
The fourth is a restart. Restart the phone or switch airplane mode on and off, and let it find T-Mobile and Verizon; this can take a few minutes after you leave the plane.
Still no data? Write to us on WhatsApp or at support@esimgo.ae with your order number, or go through the no-signal checklist. Do not delete the eSIM to “try again”: a deleted profile usually cannot be installed twice from the same code. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
What I’d choose (and when NOT to buy the eSIM)
For a week of maps, rides and messaging I’d take 1 GB for 7 days, AED 12.99. For two weeks or more, with photos and social media, I’d go for 5 GB for 30 days, AED 34.99. If you video-call and stream every day, take the unlimited plan for 7 days, AED 92.99, with 5 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps.
I would not recommend the eSIM in three cases. If you need calls or SMS on your UAE number every day, roaming on your e&, du or Virgin Mobile line keeps them, and some packs include minutes (compare the packs). If your phone has no eSIM or is locked to one operator, it cannot take the plan: check your model first. And if your group travels together all day and shares one connection, a pocket Wi-Fi can cover everyone.
