How to get mobile data in Armenia from the UAE: for a week, a data eSIM on Vivacell installed before you fly, at AED 15.99 for 1GB and 7 days (Armenia eSIM plans), or the 5GB week du postpaid lists at AED 70.00 (19 Oct 2026); for two weeks or more with calls, Viva’s TOURIST UNLIM at AMD 2,500 per 15 days (viva.am, 19 Oct 2026).

Viva, Ucom or an eSIM: what fits a trip to Armenia from the UAE?

Two things decide it: Armenian calls, and a counter visit after you land. An Armenia SIM card gives you minutes: Viva sells TOURIST UNLIM (300 minutes per 15 days) only at its service centres, and Ucom offers Level Up+ 5000 (3,000 minutes for 30 days) at Zvartnots airport. A data eSIM or a du or Virgin Mobile pack needs no counter; e&’s pack is unconfirmed in Armenia.

Pack prices as listed by e&, du and Virgin Mobile on 19 Oct 2026; AED per GB is our derivation (price ÷ GB). eSIM prices are in AED at the day’s rate: your card is charged exactly that amount.

Your e&, du or Virgin Mobile line won’t use mobile data in Armenia unless you add a roaming pack (e& lets you unlock pay-as-you-go data for 24 hours by SMS).

Our Europe regional plan lists Georgia but not Armenia, so for both countries on one trip, buy a plan for each. The Georgia SIM card guide covers the other side of the border.

What does Viva’s TOURIST UNLIM include, and where do you buy it?

Viva’s TOURIST UNLIM charges an “Activation fee AMD 2500/15 days” for what Viva calls “Unlimited internet”, plus “CALLS 300 min” and “SMS 300” (Viva, 19 Oct 2026). You buy it in person: the plan “is available exclusively at service centers”, with a 60-day initial validity.

The packages run 15 days from activation. After that, if your balance covers the fee, Viva charges it again and “the activation of packages is automatically prolonged”. Our arithmetic: 30 days is two cycles, AMD 5,000. Without the balance, “1MB of Internet will cost AMD 30”, so keep AMD 2,500 on the balance before day 15.

Viva states that the inclusions “are not automatically prolonged or available in roaming”, so they stop working if you cross into Georgia. The plan is “not intended for use with modems and Wi-Fi devices”; ask at the counter before you rely on it for a hotspot. We could not confirm whether the plan is limited to foreign passports.

Viva also issues a local eSIM, but “you need to visit any of the Viva service centers with your passport” (Viva eSIM, 19 Oct 2026). The QR code comes by email or on paper. We could not confirm a Viva counter at Zvartnots airport.

Three ways to get online in Armenia: a local SIM, a roaming pack on your UAE line or a data eSIM

What does Ucom sell at Zvartnots airport?

Ucom’s service centre at Zvartnots airport charges “just 4500 AMD” for the first activation of Level Up+ 5000: “Unlimited*” data, with speed set at 512 kbps after 200GB in 30 days, and 3,000 minutes (Ucom, 19 Oct 2026). Ucom has no tourist-branded plan.

The inclusions run 30 days and “cannot be used when in roaming”. A one-time AMD 100 activation fee applies to SIMs that are not pre-activated. Ucom’s page does not say which documents it asks for, so take your passport to the counter.

Team Telecom Armenia’s mobile tariffs page lists no tourist or visitor plan (Team, 19 Oct 2026), so we quote none of its prices.

Does your e&, du or Virgin Mobile pack work in Armenia?

du and Virgin Mobile list Armenia for their packs; e& is unconfirmed. Armenia is in du’s zone A and Virgin Mobile’s pack zone, but e&’s Preferred Roaming Partners list leaves it out, while e&’s roaming country list includes it (e&, du, Virgin Mobile, 15 Oct 2026). e& says “Data usage is blocked in non-preferred roaming partners”, so check that list before you buy.

e&’s prepaid Weekly Data pack is AED 100.00 for 4GB over 7 days until 10 Jan 2027, normally 2GB (19 Oct 2026). Buy it only once Armenia shows on e&’s partner list; our guide to the e& Weekly Data pack covers its terms.

du postpaid lists 5GB for 7 days at AED 70.00 and 10GB for AED 100.00 (19 Oct 2026); see the du postpaid 5GB weekly bundle. Virgin Mobile’s packs are AED 100.00 for 2GB and AED 200.00 for 10GB, each over 7 days (19 Oct 2026). Armenia is not on Virgin’s One Country page (34 countries, 15 Oct 2026), so a 20GB Virgin plan does not make it free.

du’s travel eSIM for Armenia is about AED 27.54 (US$7.50) for 1GB and 7 days and about AED 106.50 (US$29.00) for 5GB and 30 days; it has no Unlimited 30 days option (du, 15 Oct 2026).

Our Armenia plans run on Vivacell as the local network and show the price in AED: unlimited data for 7 days is AED 144.99 (about AED 20.71 a day), at full speed up to 3GB a day, then 1 Mbps; 10GB for 30 days is AED 68.99. Charged in AED by JET SHARING (USA). Your bank may add a foreign-transaction fee; see how to pay.

Install it before you fly; it connects when you land in Armenia, and the days count from that first connection. Our eSIM does not provide service in the UAE. A top-up goes on the same eSIM with no new QR code.

Our eSIMs for Armenia are data-only, so keep your UAE number on your main SIM for calls and SMS (keep your UAE number). Keep your UAE SIM switched on for SMS; e& and Virgin Mobile don’t charge for SMS you receive abroad, and calls you receive are charged per minute.

A week in Armenia: roaming pack vs eSIM

3.8× cheaper than prepaid packs

5.6 GB for 7 days (0.8 GB a day, social media and photos): the cheapest prepaid way to get it, and postpaid where it is lower.

du roaming, prepaid10 GB · 7 days AED 200.00
Virgin Mobile roaming, prepaid10 GB · 7 days AED 200.00
du roaming, postpaid10 GB · 7 days AED 100.00
eSIM in Armenia2 × 3 GB · 30 days AED 51.98

On roaming your UAE number also takes calls and SMS; the eSIM is data only. Packs at the operator’s AED price, as listed on 19 Oct 2026; the eSIM at its AED price on 20 Oct, charged in AED by card. Work out your own trip.

When is a local Armenian SIM the better buy?

An Armenia SIM card is the better buy from two weeks with calls. Over 30 days, Viva’s TOURIST UNLIM is two cycles, AMD 5,000 with 300 minutes in each (our arithmetic), and Ucom’s airport offer is AMD 4,500 for the first 30 days with 3,000 minutes (Viva, Ucom, 19 Oct 2026). Our Armenia eSIM carries data only.

Pick Viva’s plan for the whole stay: after a switch from TOURIST UNLIM to another prepaid plan, Viva says “the return to the ‘TOURIST UNLIM’ is not possible”.

Our eSIM is the better buy for a week: you install it in the UAE, with no service-centre visit and no ID check, and its days count from the first connection in Armenia. On an e& line, where Armenia is unconfirmed, it also means you don’t depend on e&’s partner list.

Check before you fly

What if the eSIM doesn’t work when you land in Armenia?

Check four settings, in this order, before you write to us.

The first is the line for mobile data. On iPhone it is Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data; on Android, the SIM manager. Pick the travel line there; your UAE line stays on for calls and SMS, with its mobile data off.

The second is data roaming, for the eSIM line only. The eSIM is a foreign profile, so the phone treats Armenia as roaming for it.

The third is the APN. On this plan it sets itself, so leave it alone; you don’t need to type one.

The fourth is a restart. Restart the phone or switch airplane mode on and off, and let it find MTS - Vivacell; this can take a few minutes after you leave the plane.

Still no data? Write to us on WhatsApp or at support@esimgo.ae with your order number, or go through the no-signal checklist. Do not delete the eSIM to “try again”: a deleted profile usually cannot be installed twice from the same code. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.

What I’d choose (and when NOT to buy the eSIM)

For a week of maps, rides and messaging I’d take 1 GB for 7 days, AED 15.99. For two weeks or more, with photos and social media, I’d go for 5 GB for 30 days, AED 40.99. If you video-call and stream every day, take the unlimited plan for 7 days, AED 144.99, with 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps.

I would not recommend the eSIM in three cases. If you need calls or SMS on your UAE number every day, roaming on your e&, du or Virgin Mobile line keeps them, and some packs include minutes (compare the packs). If your phone has no eSIM or is locked to one operator, it cannot take the plan: check your model first. And if your group travels together all day and shares one connection, a pocket Wi-Fi can cover everyone.

FAQ

Can I buy a SIM at Yerevan airport?

Yes, from Ucom: its service centre at Zvartnots airport charges AMD 4,500 for the first activation of Level Up+ 5000 (Ucom, 19 Oct 2026). Viva sells TOURIST UNLIM only at its service centres, and we could not confirm one at Zvartnots.

Does my e& roaming pack work in Armenia?

It is not confirmed. Armenia is on e&’s roaming country list but not on its Preferred Roaming Partners list, and e& blocks data on non-preferred partners (e&, 15 Oct 2026). Check e&’s partner list before you buy a pack; du and Virgin Mobile both list Armenia.

How much is Viva’s tourist plan?

AMD 2,500 per 15 days for TOURIST UNLIM, with 300 minutes, 300 SMS and what Viva calls “Unlimited internet” (Viva, 19 Oct 2026). It renews from your balance every 15 days; without the balance, data costs AMD 30 per MB. Viva sells it only at its service centres.

Can I get a local eSIM in Armenia?

Yes, from Viva, but only in person: “you need to visit any of the Viva service centers with your passport” (Viva, 19 Oct 2026). The QR code comes by email or on paper. Our Armenia eSIM installs in the UAE before you fly, with no ID check.

Is there an unlimited eSIM for Armenia?

Yes: unlimited data for 3 to 30 days on Vivacell, at full speed up to 3GB a day, then 1 Mbps. The plan is data-only, so calls and SMS stay on your UAE SIM.
