How we compare eSIM prices with e&, du and Virgin Mobile roaming

Balance scale weighing a mobile tower against a smartphone with an eSIM chip

We compare an eSIM with e&, du and Virgin Mobile UAE roaming on the same volume, the same days and a named line type, using prices read from the operators’ own pages on 15 Oct 2026. A badge says “N× cheaper” only when the operator costs at least 1.2× our live price. We don’t rank eSIM brands, so you will not find a best eSIM list here.

We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. eSIM Go is not affiliated with e&, du or Virgin Mobile UAE. This page is for UAE residents travelling abroad.

What we compare: line type, GB, days and the price in AED

We set one operator row against one eSIM plan: same destination, volume, days and line type (prepaid, postpaid or plan), priced in AED. The line type moves the answer: du sells 10GB for 7 days at AED 200.00 on prepaid and AED 100.00 on postpaid (du, 15 Oct 2026), a 2× gap.

Operator prices appear exactly as the operator shows them. Our prices come from the live storefront and match checkout that day. Per-GB and per-day columns are our arithmetic and start with “about”.

An operator week lasts 7 days; we usually set it against a 30-day eSIM that starts counting at its first connection abroad. The columns compare price only. Our eSIMs for India, Pakistan and the Gulf countries are data-only, so operator minutes stay a separate line.

Where operator prices come from and how often we check them

Every operator price has one operator tariff source, the operator’s own page or terms, read on 15 Oct 2026 and shown with that date. We re-read every operator page in the first week of each month. The next full re-check is 11 Jan 2027, after e&’s promotional volumes end on 10 Jan 2027.

OperatorPages we readExample rowSnapshot date
e&Roaming Daily Data500MB for 1 day, AED 35.0015 Oct 2026
dudu roaming and FAQpostpaid 10GB, 7 days, AED 100.0015 Oct 2026
Virgin Mobile UAERoaming packs10GB, 7 days, AED 200.0015 Oct 2026

A table older than 60 days gets the note “may be outdated — check the operator’s page”. When an operator’s pages disagree, we show both versions with dates: Virgin’s One Country page says “Choose 1 country from 34 countries”; its FAQ says “one country of your choice from the 31 listed” (both read on 15 Oct 2026).

The badge rule: when we say “N× cheaper” and when we don’t

The ratio is the operator’s AED price divided by our live price for the same destination, rounded down to one decimal. From 1.2 up we write “N× cheaper”, and only when the country is inside the operator’s roaming zone. From 0.9 up to 1.2 we write “about the same price”. Below 0.9 we say the operator is cheaper.

For two du rows (du, 15 Oct 2026) the bands work out as follows. They are thresholds, not our prices.

Our badgeRatiodu postpaid, 10GB, 7 days, AED 100.00du prepaid, 10GB, 7 days, AED 200.00
“N× cheaper”1.2 and upour price AED 83.33 or lowerAED 166.66 or lower
“about the same price”0.9 to under 1.2AED 83.34 to AED 111.11AED 166.67 to AED 222.22
the operator is cheaperunder 0.9above AED 111.11above AED 222.22

Rounding down works against us: a raw 1.19 earns no badge. Every badge names the line type and the 7 versus 30 days difference. Virgin lists Latvia, Monaco and Moldova only in its out-zone, at 20MB for AED 120.00 or 40MB for AED 200.00 over 7 days (Virgin, 15 Oct 2026), so no badge appears there.

Against a du postpaid line, 10GB for 7 days at AED 100.00, the gap is often small. Expect “about the same price” there more often than on prepaid lines. Where the operator wins, we say so, without a ratio. Virgin plans from 20GB include one country free of charge for a calendar month: Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait are on its list of 34; Bahrain, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Georgia and Japan are not. If you need lots of calls home during Umrah, your e& or du Umrah pack is hard to beat.

How to choose a travel eSIM: network, validity, fair use, refund

Choose by four checks, not by a best eSIM ranking: the network named for your country, days that start at first connection, the daily fair-use cap on unlimited plans, and a refund if the eSIM never connects.

CheckExample
NetworkSaudi Arabia: Zain, 5G. India: the catalogue lists Vi India (4G) and also names Jio, so we promise neither; the Asia regional plan lists Jio
Daysours count from first connection abroad; e& Weekly and Monthly: “validity starts upon first eligible usage”; du data-only bundles start during travel; its voice and data bundles start at purchase
Unlimitedon most of our unlimited plans, full speed up to 3GB a day, then 1 Mbps; 5GB a day in Thailand, the USA, Italy and Spain
Refunda refund within 30 days of purchase, if the eSIM has not connected to any network

Keep your UAE SIM switched on for SMS; e& and Virgin Mobile don’t charge for SMS you receive abroad; calls you receive are charged per minute. du doesn’t publish a price for SMS you receive abroad — check with du. Our eSIMs are for use outside the UAE; they do not provide service in the UAE. Install before you fly; it connects when you land. See refund policy and roaming or eSIM.

Editorial policy: sources, corrections, AI use and sign-off

We rank sources in three tiers: the operator’s own page or terms, then law or regulator text, then statistics with a named publisher. A community post never proves a price.

Corrections log: no entries yet. When we change a published number or rule, we add a dated line here saying what changed.

Drafts are prepared with AI writing tools and are checked, corrected and signed off by our named editor against the sources listed on each page.

Who sells, who writes, how to report an error

eSIM Go is sold by JET SHARING MOBILITY INC, United States. Nadezhda Semenova writes and signs off every page: entrepreneur, co-founder of the Trippy travel service, 7 years in business.

To report an error, write to support@esimgo.ae with the page and the operator page that disagrees. We fix the number and add a line to the log. More: About, Contact, roaming.

FAQ

What is the best eSIM for UAE residents travelling abroad?

There is no best eSIM for every trip, and we don’t rank brands. Pick by the network named for your country, days from first connection, the daily fair-use cap and a refund before connection.

Which eSIM app is best?

We have no eSIM app. You buy on esimgo.ae and the QR code comes by e-mail. Install before you fly.

How often are operator prices checked?

In the first week of every month, and again on 11 Jan 2027 after e&’s promotional volumes end. The last snapshot is 15 Oct 2026. A table older than 60 days gets the note “may be outdated — check the operator’s page”.

What does “about the same price” mean on your pages?

The operator’s price divided by our live price lands from 0.9 up to 1.2. For du postpaid, AED 100.00 for 10GB and 7 days, our price would sit between AED 83.34 and AED 111.11. From 1.2 we show “N× cheaper”; below 0.9 the operator is cheaper.

How do I find a low-price eSIM?

Compare price per GB for the same days and name the line type. On du, 10GB for 7 days is about AED 10.00 per GB on postpaid and about AED 20.00 on prepaid (du, 15 Oct 2026; our arithmetic). Divide an eSIM’s AED price by its GB the same way.
