France SIM card from the UAE: Orange Holiday, roaming or a data eSIM
A France SIM card from the UAE can be a roaming pack on your UAE line (AED 35.00 for 500MB and one day, from AED 70.00 for a week, 15 Oct 2026), Orange’s own Europe eSIM in euros (from €15.99 for 10GB and 14 days, Orange, 16 Oct 2026) or our data eSIM from AED 12.99 for 1GB and 7 days. We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here, and eSIM Go is not affiliated with e&, du, Virgin Mobile UAE or Orange.

Data in France from the UAE: the options side by side
Five routes put a phone online in France. Two come from Orange and two run on your UAE number; the fifth is our eSIM. Your e&, du or Virgin Mobile line won’t use mobile data abroad unless you add a roaming pack (e& lets you unlock pay-as-you-go data for 24 hours by sending UBLOCK to 1010).
| Option | Price | What you need | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| e& (Etisalat), du or Virgin Mobile roaming pack | AED 35.00 to AED 1,200.00 a pack from about AED 15.00 per GB | Roaming switched on and a pack bought before you fly | Costs more per GB than the eSIM |
| Pocket Wi-Fi router | Not verified | Collect it, keep it charged and return it | One connection for the group, only while you stay together |
| Local SIM bought on arrival | Not verified | A free SIM slot and a shop after landing | On a one-slot phone it replaces your UAE SIM |
| Travel eSIM from this site | from AED 12.99 by card; from AED 2.95 per GB | An eSIM phone that is not locked to one operator | Data only: no calls or SMS on your UAE number |
Pack prices as listed by e&, du and Virgin Mobile on 15 Oct 2026; AED per GB is our derivation (price ÷ GB). eSIM prices are in AED at the day’s rate: your card is charged exactly that amount.
| Option | Data · validity | Entry price |

eSIM for France: most chosen plans
Your card is charged exactly AED 12.99; the charge is in UAE dirhams. The seller is registered outside the UAE, so some banks may still add a foreign-merchant fee — how card payment works.
What it costs per day
Plan price in AED ÷ days, at the rate of 17 Oct. A longer plan usually costs less per day: pick by your trip length, not by the lowest daily price.
Orange Holiday and Orange Travel: shop SIM or an eSIM in euros
Orange sells two things. Orange Holiday Europe is a pre-activated France SIM card at a price we could not confirm; Orange Travel’s Europe eSIM starts at €15.99 for 10GB and 14 days and is bought online before you fly (Orange, 16 Oct 2026). Orange Holiday is sold in Orange stores in mainland France, in Relay shops at airports and train stations, and in tobacconists; online at travel.orange.com it is an eSIM only.
Orange’s Holiday page says to “register the SIM in your name within 30 days of your arrival” or the line “will be suspended”. Its FAQ names a 14-day window, and we cannot reconcile the two, so register soon after you land. We could not confirm which ID Orange asks for at the counter; check before you queue.
The eSIM route skips the counter: Orange Travel sells Europe plans in euros (Orange, 16 Oct 2026).
| Plan | Data · days | Calls and SMS | Price | about € per GB |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Data only | 10GB · 14 | none | €15.99 | 1.60 |
| Data only | 20GB · 30 | none | €23.99 | 1.20 |
| With calls | 20GB · 14 | in-zone calls/SMS; 30 world min + 200 SMS | €24.99 | 1.25 |
| With calls | 50GB · 30 | in-zone calls/SMS; 120 world min + 1,000 SMS | €44.99 | 0.90 |
The per-GB column and the per-day figures are our arithmetic. On a 7-day Paris trip the €15.99 plan is about €2.28 a day, against €1.14 over its 14 days. Orange’s page says “Unused eSIM? Get a full refund.” We could not confirm the conditions, so read them before you buy.

e&, du and Virgin Mobile in France: a week in Paris and One Country
France is in e&’s preferred zone, du’s zone A and Virgin’s pack zone, so a week on your UAE number costs from AED 70.00 (du postpaid, 5GB) to AED 200.00 (du prepaid 10GB or du postpaid unlimited), as listed on 15 Oct 2026.
| Pack | Line | Data · days | AED | about AED per day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| e& Roaming Weekly Data | prepaid | 4GB until 10 Jan 2027 · 7 | 100.00 | 14.3 |
| du roaming data bundle | postpaid | 5GB · 7 | 70.00 | 10.0 |
| du roaming data bundle | postpaid | 10GB · 7 | 100.00 | 14.3 |
| du roaming data bundle | prepaid | 10GB · 7 | 200.00 | 28.6 |
| du roaming data bundle | postpaid | unlimited · 7 | 200.00 | 28.6 |
| Virgin roaming pack | Virgin plan | 2GB · 7 | 100.00 | 14.3 |

If you are on a Virgin plan of 20GB or more and France is your only country, Virgin wins. France sits on the Virgin One Country list (34 countries on the page, 15 Oct 2026), and the pass uses your plan’s data. Virgin’s page says “Change the country every month if you need”, and “It won’t auto renew.”
du also sells its own Travel eSIM for France: about AED 14.69 (US$4) for 1GB and 7 days (du, 15 Oct 2026).
Our France eSIM joins a local network, Orange or Bouygues. Unlimited data is AED 70.99 for 7 days (about AED 10.14 a day), at full speed up to 3GB a day, then 1 Mbps, and 10GB for 30 days is AED 36.99; the France eSIM plans page shows every price in AED. Charged in AED by JET SHARING (USA). Your bank may add a foreign-transaction fee; see how to pay.
Install it before you fly; it connects when you land in France, and its days count from then. Top-up is possible. Keep your UAE SIM switched on for SMS; e& and Virgin don’t charge for SMS you receive abroad; calls you receive are charged per minute. Our France eSIM is data-only (keep your UAE number) and does not provide service in the UAE. If the eSIM has not connected to any network, you can get a refund within 30 days of purchase.
A week in France: roaming pack vs eSIM
4× cheaper than prepaid packs Free on Virgin Mobile 20 GB+ plans5.6 GB for 7 days (0.8 GB a day, social media and photos): the cheapest prepaid way to get it, and postpaid where it is lower.
On roaming your UAE number also takes calls and SMS; the eSIM is data only. Packs at the operator’s AED price, as listed on 15 Oct 2026; the eSIM at its AED price on 17 Oct, charged in AED by card. Work out your own trip.
France plus other countries: when the Europe plan fits
Orange Travel’s eSIM lists 39 countries. Virgin covers one country a month, and our France eSIM covers France only. For Paris plus a second country, the route decides the plan.
Take 4 days in Paris and 4 in Barcelona. Orange’s list includes Spain, so one Orange Travel eSIM covers both; Virgin One Country takes France or Spain for the month, not both; a France eSIM needs a second plan for Spain. The list also reaches Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom and Switzerland (Orange, 16 Oct 2026). We could not confirm where the Holiday SIM works outside France.
The EU’s “roam like at home” rule covers SIMs from EU and EEA operators (Your Europe, 16 Oct 2026). Your e&, du or Virgin line is ordinary UAE roaming in every EU country.
For a longer route, a regional plan is one purchase; check each stop on the Europe eSIM plans page. The Europe SIM card guide compares the routes, and the Italy SIM card guide covers Rome.
Check before you fly
What if the eSIM doesn’t work when you land in France?
Check four settings, in this order, before you write to us.
The first is the line for mobile data. On iPhone it is Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data; on Android, the SIM manager. Pick the travel line there; your UAE line stays on for calls and SMS, with its mobile data off.
The second is data roaming, for the eSIM line only. The eSIM is a foreign profile, so the phone treats France as roaming for it.
The third is the APN. On this plan it sets itself, so leave it alone; you don’t need to type one.
The fourth is a restart. Restart the phone or switch airplane mode on and off, and let it find Bouygues and Orange; this can take a few minutes after you leave the plane.
Still no data? Write to us on WhatsApp or at support@esimgo.ae with your order number, or go through the no-signal checklist. Do not delete the eSIM to “try again”: a deleted profile usually cannot be installed twice from the same code. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
What I’d choose (and when NOT to buy the eSIM)
For a week of maps, rides and messaging I’d take 1 GB for 7 days, AED 12.99. For two weeks or more, with photos and social media, I’d go for 5 GB for 30 days, AED 19.99. If you video-call and stream every day, take the unlimited plan for 7 days, AED 70.99, with 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps.
I would not recommend the eSIM in three cases. If you need calls or SMS on your UAE number every day, roaming on your e&, du or Virgin Mobile line keeps them, and some packs include minutes (compare the packs). If your phone has no eSIM or is locked to one operator, it cannot take the plan: check your model first. And if your group travels together all day and shares one connection, a pocket Wi-Fi can cover everyone.
